The City of West Sacramento, California is conducting a search for a top caliber individual to join the City as the next Director of Community Development. Located just across the Sacramento River from the State Capitol, the City of West Sacramento, with a population of just over 53,000, offers its residents and businesses a convenient location, quality housing choices, and numerous opportunities to work and live in the same community. The Department consists of the Planning, Building, Development Engineering, Environmental Services, Code Enforcement, and Business License Divisions. Operating with an annual budget of $16.2 million, it is staffed with 33 employees and includes a large contract for solid waste collection. Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skill. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major in business, finance, urban planning, public administration, or related field. Ten years of increasingly responsible professional and high-level management experience in planning, finance, redevelopment, housing, or economic development, including three years of supervisory experience.
The salary for the Community Development Director is $150,000 to $180,000 depending upon qualifications. The City offers an excellent benefits package including CalPERS retirement.
