Recreation Leader/Senior Recreation Leader

The Recreation Division is seeking energetic individuals who want to have fun this summer! As a Recreation division employee you will gain knowledge, awareness and teamwork, while building lifelong friendships.

Job experience is not always necessary, but applicants must display a good work ethic, sense of teamwork, and a willingness to help strengthen our community and foster human development through the exciting field of recreation.

Recreation Leader – $14.50 - $16.50

Under general supervision, our Recreation Leaders perform a variety of duties, including: 

• Assist Sr. Leaders in organizing and leading activities
• Active participation in all activities, trips and swim days
• Provide for safety of children
• Initiate interaction with children
• Any other tasks that management sets forth
•  

 In addition to the duties above, Senior Recreation Leaders are also responsible for:

• Planning and organizing activities for assigned site
• Supervising children and providing for their safety
• Enthusiastically leading activities and setting examples for Recreation Leaders
• Maintaining Attendance records and providing written reports upon request
• Interacting with parents and staff to create a cohesive working team
• Other related duties as assigned

• Actively engage children and enjoy working with children ages 5-14
• Provide physical and emotional safety for all children
• Are excellent communicators with strong verbal and written skills
• Are interested in developing leadership and professional growth experience
• May have some experience working with summer camps

Does being a Recreation Leader or Senior Recreation Leader sound like you? Before you apply, be sure that you meet the qualification guidelines below: 

• Must be able to secure a work permit if currently under age 18 and in school. 
• Must be at least 15 years old at time of hire or finished Freshman year of High School
• Must have reliable form of transportation to and from camp.

In addition, our Senior Recreation Leader requirements include: 

• One year of paid work experience in a day or resident camp setting.
• Ability to engage in physical activity
• Ability to work at a number of different sites throughout the City
• CPR & First Aid certification desirable

Recreation Leaders and Senior Recreation Leaders may undergo California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprinting as part of the background process, as well as a TB test. All interested candidates must attend training week prior to the start of camp programs. One week vacation during camp sessions is permissible.
