The Recreation Division is seeking energetic individuals who want to have fun this summer! As a Recreation division employee you will gain knowledge, awareness and teamwork, while building lifelong friendships.
Job experience is not always necessary, but applicants must display a good work ethic, sense of teamwork, and a willingness to help strengthen our community and foster human development through the exciting field of recreation.
We offer five different Day Camp programs for children. Leaders direct games, arts and crafts, songs, and trips. Recreation Leaders work 15-30 hours a week, and Senior Recreation Leaders work up to 38 hours a week, depending on experience, personal availability, program and attendance. All programs begin June 14th, 2021. Training will take place within the first two weeks of June.
Hourly Wages Per Position Are As Follows:
Recreation Leader – $14.50 - $16.50
Senior Recreation Leader - $17.10 – $19.30
Under general supervision, our Recreation Leaders perform a variety of duties, including:
Assist Sr. Leaders in organizing and leading activities
Active participation in all activities, trips and swim days
Provide for safety of children
Initiate interaction with children
Any other tasks that management sets forth
In addition to the duties above, Senior Recreation Leaders are also responsible for:
Planning and organizing activities for assigned site
Supervising children and providing for their safety
Enthusiastically leading activities and setting examples for Recreation Leaders
Maintaining Attendance records and providing written reports upon request
Interacting with parents and staff to create a cohesive working team
Other related duties as assigned

Provide physical and emotional safety for all children
Are excellent communicators with strong verbal and written skills
Are interested in developing leadership and professional growth experience
May have some experience working with summer camps

Must be able to secure a work permit if currently under age 18 and in school.
Must be at least 15 years old at time of hire or finished Freshman year of High School
Must have reliable form of transportation to and from camp.
In addition, our Senior Recreation Leader requirements include:
One year of paid work experience in a day or resident camp setting.
Ability to engage in physical activity
Ability to work at a number of different sites throughout the City
CPR & First Aid certification desirable
Recreation Leaders and Senior Recreation Leaders may undergo California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprinting as part of the background process, as well as a TB test. All interested candidates must attend training week prior to the start of camp programs. One week vacation during camp sessions is permissible.
