The City of San Bruno is currently recruiting for part-time, temporary custodians. This is a wonderful opportunity for candidates interested in being a key part of the day-to-day functions of the facilities division. Under the general direction of a facilities supervisor, custodians perform general cleaning and maintenance duties, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning restrooms, changing light bulbs, handling garbage and recycling, washing windows, and performing other tasks as needed. The work schedule is flexible and requires 16 - 19 hours per week, which may include afternoons and evenings.
The ideal candidate is a self-starting, independent, and positive individual capable of working in a busy team-oriented public service environment while working effectively with fellow custodians and staff, and is dependable, cooperative, and flexible. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the ability to take prompt action to accomplish work goals; take action to achieve results beyond what is required; be proactive; effectively manage one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently, and listen actively to others.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule; lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time; communicate orally and in writing; use equipment and tools properly and safely; understand and follow written and oral instructions; establish effective working relationships. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California Drivers License is required. Conditions of employment include successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation, live scan fingerprinting, and tuberculosis test prior to appointment.
