The City of Oakland is currently recruiting to fill an Assistant Director vacancy within the Department of Transportation (OakDOT).  This position will oversee six divisions: Great Streets Delivery, Great Streets-Streets and Sidewalks Maintenance, Street Lighting, Safe Streets, Parking and Mobility, & ADA Programs.


The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, team builder, and empathetic leader who is seasoned in an urban transportation context to grow and evolve the Department in order to meet the needs of Oakland's highly diverse, multilingual population. This individual must have an awareness of historic racial and social inequities and a commitment to engage in actions to implement measurable, equitable changes to address those disparities. Further, the candidate will have excellent managerial and analytical skills, outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, and strong administrative, fiscal and personnel management experience. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has the humility to recognize the wisdom of our community, creates a positive work environment and encourages high levels of employee competence and pride.
