The City of Mill Valley is excited to announce a recruitment for the entry-level position of Assistant Building Maintenance Worker. This position offers a “foot in the door” to acquire valuable skills and training that often leads to promotional opportunity within our organization.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Assistant Building Maintenance Worker is primarily assigned to the Mill Valley Community Center and related facilities. Under general supervision, he/she is responsible for the custodial, janitorial, and maintenance duties of assigned City buildings and facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Examples of duties include but are not limited to:

  • Event and classroom setup
  • Pool maintenance and upkeep
  • Non-technical repairs
  • Janitorial and cleaning of facilities

Ideal Candidate 

The ideal candidate will be highly responsible, safety-conscious, and have a positive attitude. Ideally, the individual will have some experience in custodial/janitorial and building maintenance activities, as well as minor construction repairs. They should also be adept at following written and oral instructions. This position also frequently deals with members of the public, as well as fellow City co-workers and the incumbent should be able to communicate effectively to both. Assignments often require independent judgement, time-management, and personal initiative. Must be willing to work a regular schedule that may include nights and/or weekends.
