This is an opportunity to serve a critical function at the City of Healdsburg. Fleet Mechanics perform complex work in servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment, alternative fueled vehicles, and automotive vehicles in compliance with established rules and regulations. The Fleet Mechanic is eligible to earn a salary range of $6,481.22 - $7,908.55 per month.
Fleet Mechanic Position Overview:
Five years of responsible journey level experience as an auto and/or heavy truck equipment mechanic.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by course work in automotive repair.
License and Certificate:
Possession of a valid California Class A Driver’s License with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements or apply for and successfully possess a temporary commercial license permit within six (6) months of employment and the subsequent attainment of a permanent commercial license within the following six (6) months. Failure to obtain or maintain such required license(s) may be cause for disciplinary action.
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence Certification is desirable.
Fire Mechanic I Certification is desirable.
The successful candidate has the ability to work independently as well as be a key member of small two-person team in the shop; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; use sound judgment to make decisions; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
