Ideal Candidate 

This classification is eligible to participate in the East Palo Alto Police Officer Association (P.O.A.) bargaining unit.  Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant, Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention work by utilizing community policing and  problem-oriented strategies including controlling traffic flow; enforcing state and local regulations; performing investigative work; participating in, and providing support and assistance to special departmental crime prevention and enforcement programs.

Police Academy Graduate - Completion of a P.O.S.T. certified academy within the last 36 months (proof must be included with your application; if currently enrolled in the academy, please specify on application and include graduation date).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

¨ Must be at least 20 1/2 years old by the Exam Date AND 21 years old by Date of

     Appointment

¨ All applicants must possess a High School Diploma from an accredited United States High School or GED from the United States

¨ All applicants must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for Citizenship  (Per California Government Code Section 1031)

¨ All applicants must possess a valid driver's license

¨ Applicants may not have any felony or domestic violence convictions

¨ Must have at least 20/40 vision uncorrected
