Recreation & Community Services Department

Salary Range: $15.00 to $18.00/hr

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with coordinator. Employees may be requested to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

The Position: The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking motivated, energetic, team-oriented individuals who enjoy working with youth and possess proficient swimming skills. 

Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, is responsible for maintaining safety in and around swimming pools; conducting rescue operations; administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED); interacting professionally and communicate effectively with swimmers of all ages and the general public; writing reports; and preparing the pool for aquatic programs.


  • Minimum age at time of hire is 16 years old.
  • American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard Training certified

Selection Process: The most qualified applicants as determined by initial screening of applications will be invited to participate in an interview and lifeguard skills practical testing. Selections will be made from the results of the interviews and skills testing. Tuberculosis test results must be submitted prior to scheduled employment.
